Mina Protocol

Design Research

Mina Protocol used emerging zk-SNARKS technology to create the world’s lightest blockchain. With this creation, they identified an opportunity to create a more equitable internet. When it came time to decide how exactly to do that, they reached out for help.

I worked with UME Design, a design collective focused on cutting-edge technologies, to research how best to wield the power of zk-SNARKS and a more efficient blockchain to adopt and design a governance system to would allow emergent capabilities and equitable communities to flourish.

I designed the research strategy, carried out the research, and worked with the team at UME to build a communications device that detailed the landscape of governance models, how Mina could operate within each system, and how these choices should be made and communicated to Mina’s internal team of founders, developers, and employees.

See the project here.

While I can’t share all the details, this should help give a sense of the project, UME, and Mina Protocol.
